Being a Campus Safety Hero doesn’t just mean saving a life or making your department more efficient or effective. It also means you participate in activities that make your community better.

A great example of this is the campus police department and emergency manager for Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC). They raised nearly $4,000 for children’s cancer research by participating as a “Shave Team” with St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The campus police department pledged that for every $100 raised by the team, an officer would shave their head. They far exceeded their goal. The 14 individuals who volunteered to go bald (and one who lost his beard) for the cause each raised nearly $300.
