VANCOUVER – The University of British Columbia (UBC) has released an interim report on campus safety in response to the recent spike of sexual assaults at the institution.
To deter crime, the report recommends installing security cameras at entrances and exits, where traffic is high. The report also urges the university to collaborate with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), The Ubyssey reports.
Other recommendations included increasing visibility on campus through amplified lighting and landscape design. Additionally, the report encourages the university to develop a campus safety mobile phone application.
UBC will allow the campus community to provide feedback on the report until Feb. 25.
