Southern California Hospital Installs E.R. Metal Detector

LANCASTER, Calif. – A metal detector will be installed at the entrance of Antelope Valley Hospital’s emergency room lobby.

The move is in response to a Jan. 9 incident in which five men, one with a gun, entered the emergency room. Officials believe they were looking for a person, but he or she was not there. Shortly after they left, one of them returned and was verbally abusive to a nurse offering them assistance.
