Shooting Rampage Prompts Security Upgrades at Dawson College

MONTREAL – Dawson College has upgraded its security and communications systems in response to a shooting spree last fall that killed one student and injured 20 others.

Emergency phones, locks on classroom doors and an intercom system are some of the changes.

The tragedy that prompted these upgrades occurred Sept. 13 when Kimveer Gill walked onto Dawson College’s campus and fired 20 to 30 rounds, causing students to flee in terror. Police then shot and killed Gill.
