MISSOULA, Mont. — A University of Montana student who said she was drugged and sexually assaulted by members of the football team now says she wishes she had more vigorously pursued legal action against the school.
The student, whose name has not been released, believes she could have prevented an incident earlier this month, in which multiple male students allegedly sexually assaulted two female students, the Billings Gazette reports. The incident is being investigated by a former Montana Supreme Court justice.
The victim who reported the crime said that no one from the university ever contacted her, even after the Missoula County Attorney’s Office made the decision not to prosecute. By the time she and her parents started seeking a lawyer, the case had been closed.
