SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Students at California State University, Sacramento are calling for an increase in police presence on campus after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in a residence hall parking lot.
An unidentified woman got out of her vehicle and began walking to the dormitory around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 when three men in a minivan grabbed her and sexually assaulted her at the south end of the parking lot, News10.net reports. The victim was taken to the hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
Police are still searching for the suspects.
The news of the alleged attack did not sit well with students, who said university police are still searching for suspects in an attempted rape case that happened outside one of the dorms in September.
In response, security personnel said they plan to increase their patrols around the dorms during late night hours. Furthermore, officials are encouraging students to walk in pairs at night and to utilize the campus shuttle bus service, which is available until 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday. If the shuttle is no longer running, students are urged to call campus police for an escort.
