LOS ANGELES — Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the now infamous rapper and record producer charged with sex trafficking and other federal offenses, attacked three members of the UCLA football staff back in 2015 after his son was disciplined by one of his coaches, according to a court document obtained by the Los Angeles Times.
Combs’ son, Justin Combs, enrolled at UCLA on a full athletic scholarship in 2012. Sources told the LA Times in 2015 that the confrontation happened following a voluntary summer work out where strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi told the junior defensive back to get off the field for the rest of the summer because he was dissatisfied with his effort.
Later that day, Combs and his father walked into Alosi’s office where “words were exchanged” before the elder Combs “approached the coach and physically assaulted him, causing some minor scratches and tearing his shirt,” the document states. Several members of the training staff tried to remove Combs from the office but he allegedly choked an intern and scratching his neck and put another staffer in a headlock. Combs then allegedly grabbed a kettlebell and swung it towards the staff members.

Combs was taken into custody by UCLA police and arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, and battery. Combs’ lawyers at the time said his actions “were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son.” Some lawyers also alleged that Justin Combs had been bullied by Alosi while he was on the team. Combs was never charged but was no longer allowed to watch his son’s football practices, according to Daily Mail.
“Two different prosecutorial agencies looked at it and both declined to prosecute,” said Mark Geragos, who represented Combs following his arrest. “I understand the interest now, but clearly, this did not rise to the level of criminal prosecution.”
