A member of the Santa Clara Unified School Board has been served a temporary restraining order after he was accused of threatening the principal at his son’s middle school.
According to a report by NBC Bay Area, trustee Chris Stampolis must now stay away from Peterson Middle School in Sunnyvale, Calif. The principal of the school, Susan Harris, had called police to report that she had been threatened more than once by Stampolis.
NBC reports that people familiar with the case say Stampolis threatened Harris after she reminded him that he needed to follow campus security measures and follow school pickup times. Images from the school’s security camera show Stampolis appearing to make a gesture that simulated shooting a gun. Stampolis denies Harris’ claims.
This is not the first time Stampolis has been the center of controversy. In 2003, a student who spoke negatively about the school district during a board meeting later accused Stampolis of harassment.
Parents are now calling for Stampolis to step down, but the school district says it is waiting for the legal process to wrap up before it takes any action.
