Dobbs Ferry, New York – The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry set up a GoFundMe page for Panton Adams, its 64-year-old security officer, when the community learned he was struggling with COVID-19.

The private school community has raised more than $32,000, reports ABC7NY.

The community has rallied around Adams because, “He brings a sense of community and light to this place,” Laura Danforth, who is head of the school, told the news station.

In addition to providing security, he also distributes the mail and gives care packages.

However, in late December he came down with COVID-19 and is now in the hospital on a ventilator.

The initial GoFundMe goal was $5,000, but the community has raised more than six times that amount. Donations have come from a wide variety of individuals, including 5th graders donating $5 and families who have known him for years.
