School Board Approves STD, Pregnancy Testing

PORT CHESTER, N.Y.
Published: July 30, 2009

All health centers in Port Chester’s public school district – including elementary, middle and high schools – will provide STD and pregnancy testing to students who make such requests when school starts in the fall.

Open Door Family Medical Centers, which provides the district’s schools with federally funded clinics staffed with nurse practitioners, tabled the proposal, which was approved by the school board in June, reported ABC News.

Students who test positive for infection or pregnancy will be referred to a nearby off-campus treatment facility.
