San Diego School Police Subjected to Furloughs
SAN DIEGO—Campus police officers for the San Diego Unified School District will now be subject to mandatory furloughs and increased medical co-payments.
The officers – as well as all employees in the school district – will face five-day furloughs in each of the next to academic years, reports Sign On San Diego. By the 2013-2014 school year, the district has agreed to cancel the furloughs and gradually raise pay by 7 percent.
The district furloughs and healthcare changes are expected to save the district an estimated $19 million within the next two years.
