ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill School Board unanimously approved spending $2.38 million in the next three years to improve school security Monday.
The board has set aside more than $500,000 to install and upgrade security cameras on both the inside and outside of school buildings and school buses, the Charlotte Observer reports. The plan also calls for buzzers, locks and secondary doors for improved access control.
There are no plans to hire extra security personnel with the funds; rather, the board will offer more crisis training for current staff members.
