Rape Attempt Prompts Georgia Hospital Security Upgrade

Published: January 23, 2013

ATLANTA – Atlanta Medical Center will now only allow authorized guests access to patient floors after regular business hours. The move is in response to the alleged attempted sexual assault of one of its patients by a visitor.

Police say the assault occurred Jan. 15 early in the morning when Noble Elder, 52, entered the room of an elderly patient and tried to take off her pants, reports 11alive.com. Noble was prevented from doing so by the victim’s daughter, who is a nurse and walked in on the alleged attempted rape. An off-duty police officer who was in the next room also responded, after hearing screams, and wrestled the suspect to the ground, reports the Cherokee Ledger News.

Elder, who has a criminal record, has been arrested for sexual battery, criminal trespassing and attempted rape.
