BALTIMORE – Student anti-abortion activists are suing the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), saying the school denied them the same access to campus as other groups.
Alliance Defense Fund lawyers filed suit against the school April 2, saying the UMBC’s speech zone and speech code policies violate the First Amendment. Specifically, the group is challenging the campus’ policy, which allows campus police to move an event to a different location without notice.
Such lawsuits by pro-choice activists are not new. California higher education campuses have been experiencing similar legal challenges to their free speech policies for quite some time.
