CINCINNATI — Police have shut down a prescription drug ring that cost taxpayers approximately $120,000 and involved an employee from University Hospital.
Four people used stolen prescription pads to get pills and then sold those pills on the street for more than $875,000, WKRC Cincinnati reports. Margie Gray, who was sentenced to five years in prison, stole blank prescription pads while working at University Hospital and sold them for $6,000 apiece. She was a member of the hospital’s cleaning staff.
The ringleaders filled out scripts for oxycodone and oxycontin and recruited people to get the prescriptions filled, which many paid for with Medicaid cards. Drug dealers then sold the pills on the street.
