BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Officials at Princeton Baptist Medical Center have boosted security at the hospital after a pregnant nurse was abducted from the facility’s parking lot July 13.
The 28-year-old nurse was walking to her car, while talking on the phone with her husband, when an unknown armed man forced the woman to drive her car to several ATMs to withdraw money, AL.com reports. Her husband contacted police about the incident around 6:45 p.m.
Around 10:15 p.m., the victim was able to get free unharmed. Police found the 30-year-old suspect shortly after and arrested him, although he has not been charged.
In addition to assessing security needs and updating technology, the hospital plans to add more escorts as a heightened security measure.
