An 11-year-old Springfield, Mass., boy has committed suicide after school bullies allegedly harassed him repeatedly at school. The pre-teen, who was allegedly called “gay” by classmates, was found hanging by an extension cord on the second floor of the family’s home on April 6.
According to ABC News, the boy’s mother said she had tried repeatedly to get the New Leadership Charter School to step in and stop her son’s tormentors. The bullying began when the boy entered sixth grade in September of last year.
The suicide comes about a year after a California eighth-grader was shot and killed by a fellow student in his classroom for allegedly being gay.
