Police Capture Inmate Who Fled Hospital after Giving Birth

Natasha Peters was on the run for less than a day before she was caught.

Authorities have located a Michigan criminal after she escaped a hospital following the birth of her child.

Natasha Peters, 29, was granted furlough to have a high-risk birth when she escaped police custody and left the hospital, according to wsbt.com.

Peters, who has been in prison since June for armed robbery, did not have the newborn baby with her when she fled.

The LaPorte County Fugitive Apprehension Street Team caught Peters in Michigan City less than a day after her hospital escape.

Peters was taken back to LaPorte County Jail and Michigan City police are investigating the incident.

The child remains in the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
