Police Capture Florida Atlantic U. Shooter

BOCA RATON, Fla – Florida Atlantic University (FAU) was placed on lockdown April 30, after someone opened fire at an on-campus party. The suspect was apprehended the same day, and there was one injury during the incident.

According to reports, the Boca Raton police department received a call from the campus housing unit at 1:16 a.m. that shots had been fired at an on-campus party. The call was then transferred to the FAU police line, which resulted in officers responding to the scene within three minutes.

The university’s new siren and PA system were activated around 1:42 a.m., warning students to stay inside their residences or retreat to a safe area, as the suspect was still on the loose. Students also received alert E-mails and text messages.

The shooting occurred during the university’s Finals Week. Classes were cancelled for the day; however, final exams were rescheduled for May 3.

Police were able to positively identify and capture 23-year-old Omar Everton Graham at Johnson & Wales University in North Miami.
