Playboy Names U. of Colorado-Boulder ‘Top Party School’
Playboy selected the University of Colorado-Boulder as its “Top Party School” for 2011, noting that the university is “home to reefer madness.” According to Playboy, the surrounding city has 50 medical marijuana dispensaries and four beer breweries.
Every April, nearly half of the university’s 24,000 undergraduate students participate in an on-campus “smoke out,” USA Today reports. Playboy also bases its rankings on male-to-female ratio, the success of the university’s sports teams and the appeal of the surrounding area – including beach, ski resorts or music scenes.
The rankings are as follows:
- University of Colorado-Boulder
- Penn State
- Arizona State University
- University of Western Ontario
- University of Texas-Austin
- University of Wisconsin
- University of Georgia
- University of Tennessee-Knoxville
- University of Central Florida
- University of California-Santa Barbara
Playboy also claims to take academic achievement into account when ranking universities.
