Philadelphia School Guard Arrested For Attempted Abduction

PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia school security officer was arrested Oct. 8 for attempting to abduct a 15-year-old girl from a bus stop.

The suspect, John Hinton, 52, was still in his uniform when he told the girl to “come here.” He then grabbed her arm. According to police, she was able to get free but was chased by Hinton.

Hinton has worked for the district for more than 10 years, inspecting schools during the evenings. He has been suspended without pay.

Although he was charged with aggravated assault in the seventies, because he was not convicted, the district did not bar him from employment.
