Paul Smith’s College Upgrades Fire Safety

Starting this fall semester, Paul Smith’s College will hire a fire safety officer and staff an around-the-clock campus dispatch center.

The improvements will enable the school will reduce the burden on the college’s volunteer fire department and allow the school to provide first response to most fire alarms, reports Denton Publications. When a single alarm is sounded in the residence hall, campus officials will respond first to determine if additional help is required.

For alarms originating outside of the dorms, local agencies will be notified and provided with the option to respond. Multiple alarms will trigger an automatic response.
