ALBERTA, Canada — Two senior officials at Alberta Hospital testified at a fatality inquiry that a patient who froze to death after disappearing from the psychiatric facility should have been located sooner.
Lorraine Adolph, a schizophrenic patient, left the facility on Dec. 4, 2008, to smoke a cigarette, CBC News reports. She was discovered frozen to death a week later, only 800 meters from where she was last seen.
The security guards sent to find Adolph were unwillingly to perform to the search, as they did not have winter boots and there were two inches of snow on the ground.
