WASHINGTON — The former president of Howard University’s Metropolitan Campus Police Officers Union has been charged with stealing money from the organization.
From 2007 to 2010, Kevin Jones served as the leader for the labor union, which represents police officers who work for Howard University and Howard University Hospital. During his term, Jones allegedly made about $28,500 in unauthorized withdrawals from the union’s bank account, reports the Washington Examiner.
When the new union president took over in 2010, he discovered that Jones had made unauthorized withdrawals and disbursements. Jones — who was initially charged in August, and two weeks ago was charged by information — maintains that he is still an active officer at Howard University. He also says that he remains a member of the union.
