Parents Awarded $260K for Son’s Death at N.J. College

Published: May 22, 2008

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The parents of a Fairleigh Dickinson University junior who fell to his death from a fourth floor dormitory window in 2005 were awarded $260,000 May 21.

Additionally, the jury determined that another student, Keith Orzech, an aspiring film editor, was also responsible for the student’s death, along with the school. During the trial, Orzech’s attorney argued that the school failed to enforce its alcohol policies, which only permits those who are 21 and over to consume alcoholic beverages.

An attorney for the university said he would advise the university to appeal.
