Paine College Starts Police Department

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Beginning this fall semester, Paine College will have officers from its own police agency patrolling campus.

The school’s police chief hopes the move will decrease the number of incidents on campus, including burglary, assaults and property damage, reports WJBF.com.

A total of 13 officers will patrol campus and nearby neighborhoods. Seven of them are currently certified to make arrests.
