READING, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Troopers, along with a Reading Hospital security guard, are being credited with saving a distraught patient’s life.
The patient had just been discharged from the emergency department on Sunday when he climbed onto the medical center’s third-story parking garage, WFMZ reports. Reading Hospital Security Officer Scott Reeser noticed the man sitting on the edge of the structure, when he reportedly closed his eyes and fell backwards. This prompted Reeser to grab the patient by the shirt, which led to a struggle to keep the patient from falling.
When state officers arrived on the scene, one Trooper talked to the patient while another approached him from behind to save the man from falling.
The patient was held for observation after the rescue, and has since been released.
