Oregon Adopts Healthcare Security Legislation

SALEM, Ore. – According to the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), the Oregon house recently passed healthcare security legislation.

HB 2022 mandates periodic security assessments to identify existing or potential hazards for assaults committed against employees. It also requires the development and implementation of assault prevention plans, as well as providing assault prevention and protection training to all employees on a regular basis.

Additionally, each healthcare employer will now be required to maintain a record of assaults committed against employees that occur at the healthcare facility.
