One Injured in Shooting on La. University’s Campus

The campus was locked down following the shooting until police made an arrest.

A man was critically injured after being shot on Southern University’s campus Thursday night.

The victim was treated at the scene by first responders before being taken to a local hospital.

One arrest was made by police following the shooting, according to CBS News.

The university said school officials issued a lockdown and a shelter-in-place message was sent to students. Both emergency measures were lifted early Friday morning after police arrested the suspected shooter.

“The university has resumed full operations,” the school said in a statement. “All entrances to the campus are open. SUPD is asking the SU community to remain alert and cautious and to report any suspicious activity or any information that may be related to the shooting.”

Campus and local police continue to investigate the incident and have not released the names of the people involved.

Neither person was a student at the Baton Rouge, Louisiana School.
