Following the 42-20 win of their team in the national college football championship game, thousands of Ohio State University revelers poured into the streets and entered Ohio Stadium, tearing down the goal post early Tuesday morning.
In the surrounding area, dozens of trash can and dumpster fires were set, and couches were also set ablaze. CBS is reporting that the number of trash fires was between 30 and 40, but the Associated Press says the number is closer to 90.
Authorities are investigating to determine if anyone can be charged for the damage caused by the fires.
Police also used pepper spray and tear gas to disperse some of the crowds.
Law enforcement was able to turn many of the fans away from the stadium. Most of the revelers then went back to the bars near campus, where there was significant police presence.
Most of the fans went home after about two hours.
