Ohio Intruder Assaults 3 Hospital Patients

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland police arrested a man they believe broke into Fairview Hospital and assaulted three female patients in the early hours of the morning on Aug. 1.

Hospital officials say an intruder invaded the female-only first floor around 2 a.m., where he proceeded to assault three women, ages 38, 55 and 75. One of the victims managed to escape to the nurse’s station, where a nurse immediately informed hospital security.

Security staff chased and apprehended 31-year-old Sami Farraj and called the Cleveland police to arrest him. In addition to assault, police also suspect Farraj of stealing computer accessories from the hospital. He currently faces charges of robbery, theft, assault, and potentially rape.

Fairview expressed its regret for the incident in a statement assuring the public that Farraj was in no way associated with the hospital and that they are working to increase security in the facility. The three victims received follow-up care after the attacks.
