Ohio High School Damaged by Category 3 Tornado

MILLBURY, Ohio —A Category 3 tornado struck Lake High School Saturday, hours before a commencement ceremony. The high school is severely damaged.

The tornado, which resulted in five deaths, was the strongest the state of Ohio had experienced in eight years, reports the Associated Press. Category 3 tornadoes have wind gusts of 136 to 165 mph.

The funnel cloud ripped the roof and back wall off of the high school’s gymnasium. The graduation ceremony was rescheduled for Tuesday at a Toledo community college.

Damage throughout the community is expected to top $100 million.
