PARMA, Ohio —The Parma City school board heard suggestions July 16 for upgrades to the district’s safety and security. The total cost for the proposed upgrades is about $703,000, and the changes would be phased in over three years.
Chief Operating Officer Mike Hartenstein and Rick Vanek, head of safety and security, discussed the possibility of a new digital camera system throughout the district, the Sun News reports. Door locks also need to be upgraded in all buildings, and floor plans should be digitized and given to police departments for use in emergency situations.
The district is also considering an upgrade to its public address systems.
