YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — In a somber announcement that has sent ripples through the school community, Ursuline High School has officially canceled the remainder of its 2025 football season. The decision follows serious allegations involving members of the football team in activities that have sparked outrage and concern among students and parents.

In a statement released to families, Ursuline High School expressed its deep sadness and disturbance over the allegations brought forward in two lawsuits, reports WOIO. The lawsuits accuse members of the football team of engaging in hazing, sexual assault, and the dissemination of child pornography, among other offenses. One lawsuit details the harrowing experience of a player who alleges that he endured an “initiation” during a nine-day team trip in June, reports WHIO. According to the lawsuit, the player was attacked, assaulted, and stripped by several teammates, an incident that was reportedly filmed and shared on the team’s group Snapchat.
The legal documents further accuse the coaching staff of dismissing these actions as “just boys being boys” and criticize the school’s administration for failing to properly investigate reports from victims and their families.
Administrative and Coaching Staff Repercussions
In response to these developments, Ursuline’s Head Football Coach, Dan Reardon, has been suspended, while Assistant Coaches Tim McGlynn and Chris Syrianoudis have been placed on administrative leave.
The school’s administration had previously communicated to parents and media that while some disciplinary actions were taken against involved students, others left the football program or the school before appropriate measures could be enforced.

Harding, Austintown Fitch, Saint Vincent-Saint Mary, and Chaney High School, also withdrew from their matches against Ursuline.
