A sheriff’s deputy was shot in the leg by an unidentified male during an event at a high school in Union City, California on Jan. 9.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. as the deputy was escorting three teenage males off of James Logan High School’s premises during the California Color Guard Circuit Evaluation. The three suspects are still at large, according to kron4.com.
The Alameda County sheriff’s deputy, who has a daughter that attends the high school, was volunteering at the event when he noticed three males in an unauthorized section of the school.
The deputy showed the suspects his badge and asked them to leave, but as he was escorting them away from the building, one of the males turned around and asked the deputy to stop following him.
When the teen pulled out a gun, the deputy began walking away, but the teen opened fire. The deputy was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound and the school was briefly locked down.
The three suspects are being described as Hispanic males between the ages of 18 and 23 years old. The photo above is a sketch of one of the suspects, although it’s not the suspect who shot the deputy.
