Off-Duty Corrections Guard Shoots Nurse, 2 Others

LONG ISLAND, N.Y.—Police arrested a Nassau County jail guard who fatally shot a nurse’s aide at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) before killing her uncle, shooting her grandfather and abducting her niece early Wednesday morning.

Kim Wolfe, 43, reportedly arranged to meet with Stacie Williams, 45, a nursing aide in the NUMC’s maternity ward, who the suspect was reportedly dating. The pair had broken up and were trying to reconcile; however, the meeting turned violent when Wolfe shot the victim with a 9mm handgun, reports the Long Island Press.

A security guard found Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 1:35 a.m. outside the hospital. She died in the emergency room 30 minutes later.

Meanwhile, Wolfe drove to her uncle’s nearby home, where she confronted her 88-year-old grandfather, Marchall Williams, Sr., whom she shot in the leg. Wolfe fatally shot her uncle, Michael Williams, 56, after he tried to intervene.

The suspect then allegedly abducted her 23-year-old niece and began driving to Atlantic City,  N.J.; however, she repeatedly called her uncle’s home along the way. A police officer was able to persuade Wolfe to return home with the help of hostage negotiators. He niece was released unharmed.

Wolfe is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, although the charges she is facing were not immediately made clear. Additionally, it is unknown whether or not the suspect’s weapon was issued to her as part of her job as a correction officer or her personal weapon. However, a detective noted that guards do not carry weapons while on duty.
