The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published “Lives Saved in 2007 by Restraint Use and Minimum Age Drinking Laws,” which claims that seatbelts and minimum age drinking laws have contributed to the reduction in car accident fatalities.
The report says that in 2007, the use of seat belts in motor vehicles saved an estimated 15,147 lives. Minimum age drinking laws were responsible for saving 826 lives in that same year.
