New Policies at Michigan Hospital Affect Local Florist Businesses
Because of new security measures, the hours that flowers can be delivered to Munson Medical Center patients have been restricted. The change is due in part to a staffing issue.
New safety guidelines at Munson Medical Center have changed the way flowers can be delivered to patients’ rooms, which local florists say is impacting their business.
Last fall, the hospital sent local florists a letter stating that under new safety and security guidelines from the CDC and Homeland Security, flowers can now only be delivered Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and not on Saturdays, UpNorthLive.com reports.
The limitations are because once the flowers are brought to the facility, hospital staff must now take the flowers to the patient. Munson Medical lacks the staff needed to deliver the flowers as before.
