New York Man Convicted in Student Murder

Published: March 6, 2007

RADFORD, Va. – A New York man has been convicted of the seven-year-old murder of a Radford University student.

A jury found William Joseph Gutersloh, 30, guilty of first-degree murder and defiling a corpse. After partying with Gutersloh in her apartment, the then 23-year-old Lori Pleasants was found strangled with her wrists slit on June 15, 2000. Medical examiners determined her wrists were cut with a kitchen knife after she was already dead. Witnesses say in the years that followed, Gutersloh spoke of the murder and cleaning up afterward.

Gutersloh still awaits sentencing.
