New U. of Mich. Public Safety Director to Receive $200K Salary

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan’s new executive director of public safety will receive $18,000 more annually than his predecessor, as well as a $30,000 signing bonus.

Greg O’Dell served previously as head of public safety at Eastern Michigan University, AnnArbor.com reports. He will start his job at U-M on August 22.

Former U-M police Chief Ken Margee will continue to receive half of his $182,000 salary through October. Margee, who went on sick leave in October of last year, signed a settlement with the university in November in which he agreed to leave his job in exchange for six months of his full salary, followed by another six months of half his salary.
