The ASIS 2017 conference took place this week, bringing thousands of security professionals to Dallas in one of the industry’s largest showcases of the year.
This year ASIS featured more than 500 exhibitors, dozens of educational sessions and more than 22,000 attendees. Notable events included former President George W. Bush’s keynote to kick off the week’s festivities and a terrorism response panel featuring former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, London Police Detective Chief Superintendent Paul Barnard and Massachusetts General Hospital Executive Director of Police, Security and Outside Services Bonnie Michelmann.
Campus Safety took the trip to Texas to learn from industry experts, stay on top of the latest security trends and check out companies’ latest solutions.
Unsurprisingly, cybersecurity was on top of everyone’s mind as the backlash from the Equifax hack is still in full swing. Data analytics and camera intelligence were also some of the most talked about subjects on the expo’s show floor.
Some of the more futuristic booths even featured augmented or virtual reality and robots (including several drone vendors).
To get a better sense for where the security industry is today, we thought it would be helpful to put together a photo gallery featuring some of the new products that companies were featuring at ASIS 2017.
This is nowhere near an exhaustive list, but it should give readers some idea as to what solutions are actually available on the market as we near the end of 2017.
The products range from VMS interfaces, cell towers, asset trackers and, yes, one of the aforementioned robots that was awkwardly navigating the hordes of people around the convention center.
Let us know what you think of our rundown and let us know if you think other solutions should be included.
