HAMILTON, N.J. – Three junior high boys safely navigated a school bus out of harm’s way after the driver lost consciousness due to a seizure on March 22.
After a seizure incapacitated John O’Brien, 37, Sean Schreiber,13, Chris Schreiber, 12, and Jason Conti, 12, hit the brakes and took control of the steering wheel to bring the bus and its 20 passengers to safety. None of the Emily C. Reynolds Middle School students were injured in the incident.
The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission will pursue a medical review of O’Brien who told The Times of Trenton he had a previous seizure a year ago. He said he did not disclose the previous incident when applying for a commercial drivers license because he never thought it was an issue. State law requires such disclosures.
