CHAMPAIGN, ILL.
Published: January 6, 2009

Illinois college campuses will have to comply with a new safety law on emergency preparation that was passed at the beginning of the year. However, policies surrounding the new law have not been developed yet.

The schools are expected to have a plan for every situation from gun violence to severe weather, but the state has not set goals for the schools to follow.

School safety leaders are expected to educate, train and help the campus communities plan for emergencies.
