BEATRICE, Neb. — The Beatrice Public Schools Board of Education is considering a plan to upgrade security at its elementary and middle schools that will include locking doors, cameras and an intercom system.
The security cameras will be monitored from laptop computers, cell phones or other mobile devices, the Beatrice Daily Sun reports. The upgrades at all five facilities will cost a total of $13,000.
The board also approved an updated safety plan at its meeting Monday. The plan dictates that the principal will contact the superintendent during an emergency, who then will decide if and how the building principals and counselors will be notified, among other procedures.
