N.Y. Hospital Increases Security Following Suicide
POTSDAM, N.Y. — Canton-Potsdam Hospital has implemented improved emergency room security measures after a recent shooting suicide at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Emergency department patients are now limited to one visitor at a time, except in the case of minors who are allowed to have both parents present, North Country Now reports. Additionally, a security specialist will be placed in the emergency and patient registration areas during evening weekend hours.
The hospital will also be installing badge access for emergency room doors, visual monitoring equipment and remote lockdown mechanisms.
