CAMDEN, N.J. — New Jersey legislators are considering hiring military veterans to monitor schools.
Sen. Jim Beach (D-Camden) has sponsored legislation that would create a three-year pilot program in 12 districts to recruit veterans to handle school security, Newsworks.com reports.
Each district would determine whether to arm their security personnel. Additionally, all applicants would have to undergo screening to see if they suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder or other problems.
