N.J. Ed. Dept. to Conduct Unannounced School Security Checks

Officials from New Jersey’s Department of Department of Education’s Office of Preparedness and Emergency Planning will start conducting 10-point spot checks in schools and may conduct live drills, reports NJ.com.

Additionally, the department will provide schools with updating guidance on state laws.

The move is in response to December’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
