MAHWAH, N.J. — Officials at Mahwah Township Public Schools have aligned the district’s radio system with the township’s emergency services.
During a township council meeting on Feb. 28, officials discovered that the district’ and emergency services’ radio systems were incompatible, NorthJersey.com reports. As a result, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) asked the council to spend $9,000 to help the two entities synchronize their systems.
Initially, the request was denied, as the council wanted the Board of Education’s input on the matter. On March 8, the board approved a plan to fund the project, where the district will pay $3,500 for the necessary equipment, while the council would spend $5,500.
