LOS BANOS, Calif. – Police have arrested 35-year-old woman for joining her daughter in an attack with another teenage girl on the Pacheco High School campus.
The brawl began around 7:30 a.m. on March 4, when Angelia Spafford dropped her 14-year-old daughter off at school. Her daughter saw a 15-year-old girl and began arguing with the student from inside the car, Merced Sun-Star reports.
After exiting the vehicle, the girl approached the victim and began fighting with her in front of several students. Spafford then allegedly stepped out of her car and joined the brawl, kicking the victim in the head at least once. The mother and daughter duo then drove off, according to a police report.
The victim suffered slight bruising and swelling to the face.
Spafford and her daughter were arrested at the home shortly thereafter. The woman faces charges of suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, as well as resisting arrest. Spafford’s daughter was released to relatives.
Spafford has pleaded not guilty.
Pacheco High School officials hired extra security to patrol the school in response to the incident.
