A jury convicted a former police officer at Mississippi’s Moss Point High School of sexually assaulting a student last week.
Kevin Sylvester Williams was convicted of touching a child for lustful purposes and sexual battery. He will serve 20 years in prison and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, reports the Sun Herald.
Williams was a campus police officer at Moss Point High School when a sophomore student at the school said he had sex with her in 2009. The victim also said Williams would call her to his office and touch her sexually.

There are two other students with pending sexual assault cases against Williams. One of those students claims Williams would sometimes drive her to school and once sexually assaulted her at his mother’s house.
A teacher became suspicious of Williams after he continued to call students out of class. Williams has claimed he got one of the alleged victims out of class because she had soiled herself and has denied all sexual assault claims.
“[Williams] violated the oaths as a security officer, as a law enforcement officer and in his role as a father,” District Attorney Lawrence said after the conviction. “Twenty years day-to-day shows no one is above the law. If you harm children, no matter who you are, you will be held accountable.”
